Here at CMS we are dedicated to expanding our minds. Students are involved each day with spreading wisdom to others. Everyday a student uses the intercom system to read a quote, read the words of, or just make a statement from those intellectual individuals we look to for guidance and wisdom. We also use this time to build character.

There are numerous topics taught through character education.

Black History Month

“ Our flag is red, white, and blue, but our nation is a rainbow-red, yellow, brown, black, and white, and we’re all precious in Gods sight. America is not like a blanket- one piece of unbroken cloth, the same color, the same texture, and the same size. America is more like a quilt- many patches, many pieces, many colors, many sizes, all woven and held together by a common thread…All of us count and all of us fit somewhere.”

-Rev. Jesse Jackson

United Nations Day

“ Since wars begin in the minds of people, it is in the minds of people that… peace must be constructed.”

-U.N. Educational, Scientific, and Cultural organization

Diversity

“ Though each flake is very different There is one point you should know: They become one in a great blanket of snow.”

-Unknown

Dealing with anger

“There are few, if any, occasions when we have lost our tempers on which we look back without regret.”

-Ashley Montague

Freedom From Drugs

“ Every generation must wage a new war for freedom against new forces that seek through new devices to enslave mankind.”

-Conference for political Action 1924

Kind Words

“Nice words are free, so choose words that please another’s ears.”

-Vietnamese proverbs

Choices

“ If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person. If there is beauty in the person, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be harmony in the nation. If there is harmony in the nation, there will be harmony in the world.”

- Chinese Proverbs

Self Discipline

“ I can always be certain of learning from those I am with. There will be good qualities I can choose to imitate and bad ones that will teach me what I need to correct in myself.”

-Confucius

Helping Hands

“ There comes a time when we must heed a certain call. It’s time to lend a hand to life, the greatest gift of all.”

-Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie

Character

“ He who holds the ladder is as bad as the thief.”

-German Proverb
